April 2 postgame quotes: Darryl Sutter

On the offensive output:
It’s nice to get it. It’s not very often you get more than three in this league, so hopefully we saved one or two for Colorado, but I think it’s some guys probably in their confidence to get on the board.

On why the Kings thrive under pressure:
Well, we’re trying to make the playoffs. It’s got really nothing to do with a series or pressure or anything like that. We’re trying to make the playoffs, and I’ve said that all along. We’re trying to make the playoffs. That’s what we’re trying to do. Tonight was a division game, at home, coming back from a long trip, so it’s hard to push through it, and we did.

On whether he had compassion for Tyler Bunz:
Yeah, darn rights. He hasn’t played much in the American League, either. That’s not an easy situation to go into. He’s a pro and he will learn from it and he’ll be better for it. He’s a good Westerner. Western Canadian.

On whether the win builds momentum for the Colorado game on Saturday:
We’ve had momentum for quite a while. We’ve played as well as we can. Our record in February and March has been right at the top of the league. I really don’t know what that would mean in terms of momentum. We’ve played as well as we can.

On whether he was scoreboard watching:
Well, how the hell can I scoreboard watch when I’m trying to coach a game? Really, how would I be watching the scoreboard? Like, just think about it.

On Jarret Stoll’s return:
It was good. Good to have him back. I think he’s such a positive influence in the dressing room. He’s one of the leadership guys in terms of the vocal part of it, so it’s good to have him back.

On whether Jordan Nolan’s confidence has grown during his opportunity:
I think it was good for Drew’s confidence to score tonight. [Reporter: Brown, too?] Brownie, too. That’s right. Another long one. [Reporter: How much did you guys need that for them to step up?] We need ‘em to do it every game. Brownie’s our captain, and Drew’s obviously one of the top players in the league, and to go this long, when you go double-digits or 20-something games without a goal, I’m sure it wears on those guys because they’re used to being successful.
