Good morning from El Segundo, where it’s a bit quieter than it usually is around these parts.
The Kings held an optional practice on Tuesday. Nine skaters – Brayden McNabb, Jamie McBain, Mike Richards, Kyle Clifford, Andy Andreoff, Jeff Schultz, Tanner Pearson, Jordan Nolan and Tyler Toffoli – and both goaltenders took part.
Because the Kings have three straight non-game days – four, if you count Sunday’s off-day – today served as a work-out day for those who didn’t take the ice. Not all players were expected to show up to the rink.
-Robyn Regehr joined the practice shortly before players began to trickle off the ice. Speaking with Regehr after his skate, he said today was the first time that he was able to handle pucks since suffering a hand injury in the 6-4 win over St. Louis on December 18. He said that should all go well, he hopes to be able to shoot pucks by the end of the week.
-I’ll have a World Juniors story up later today from the perspectives of Mike Richards and Darryl Sutter, and tomorrow I hope to speak with Marian Gaborik, who has been a proud supporter of Slovakia’s performance in the tournament.
Congrats fellas! Great tournament! Proud of you all. Flashback from 1999 in Winnipeg. #Slovakia #BronzeMedal #2015WJC
