-With the loss, the Kings fell to 57-56-7-12 all-time against the Sharks, a record that includes a home mark of 36-23-4-3. Los Angeles is 0-1-0 in the season series, which will continue on December 27 at Staples Center.
-Tonight’s loss marked the first regular season home loss to San Jose since a 6-5 shootout defeat on April 5, 2012. The last time the Sharks won a regular season game in regulation at Staples Center was on January 1, 2011, a 1-0 win.
-The Kings fell to 20-18-9 all-time in season openers and 23-16-8 all-time in home openers. They are 4-6-0 in their last 10 season openers.
-Los Angeles was shut out in its season opener for the first time since 1975-76 and fourth time overall. The Kings were shut out in a home opener for the first time since 2008-09 and third time overall.
-Los Angeles has lost three consecutive home openers (2012-13 2-5 vs CHI; 2013-14 1-3 vs NYR; 2014-15 0-4 vs SJS).
-Alec Martinez finished with a game-high five blocked shots. He ranked fifth on the team last season with 75.
-Joe Pavelski finished with a game-high seven shots on goal.
-The Kings attempted 68 shots (34 on goal, 15 blocked, 19 missed). The Sharks attempted 58 shots (30 on goal, 13 blocked, 22 missed).
-Los Angeles won 29-of-71 faceoffs (41%). Among regular performers, Mike Richards won 2-of-15, Anze Kopitar won 9-of-23, Jarret Stoll won 6-of-12, and Jeff Carter won 12-of-21.
The Kings are scheduled to practice at Toyota Sports Center at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.
