Though Tyler Toffoli and Dwight King made the cover of Sports Illustrated over the last year, the cover stories recolved around their opponents as much as (if not more than) the Kings. This is the first Kings-centric Sports Illustrated cover in over 20 years:
That is the first @LAKings cover on SI since Tomas Sandstrom in 1993 & 1990. pic.twitter.com/AgtQEdTB8C

SI’s cover story also looks at how Lombardi and coach Darryl Sutter began plotting during the Olympic break in February to dethrone the defending champion Chicago Blackhawks. Now their goal is to extend the Kings’ reign. To that end, Lombardi welcomes advice from executives for top franchises in other sports, such as the NFL’s New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers.
“I want to know how they keep it going,” he told SI. “How do you adapt but stay on top?”
The national recognition that Lombardi, Darryl Sutter and the Kings players have catalyzed will surely help out in 2015 awards voting.
