Linden Vey has been recalled from Ontario by Manchester and will play for the Monarchs in Portland tonight.
Vey, who was recalled by Los Angeles from Manchester on April 3, did not play for the Kings due to salary cap complications that arose when the team lost Drew Doughty to an upper-body injury, necessitating Andrew Campbell’s call-up. Vey was temporarily placed on Ontario’s roster as part of a “paper” transaction before being assigned to Manchester yesterday.
In 18 games with Los Angeles, Vey has five assists and an even rating. In 40 games with Manchester, Vey has 12 goals, 44 points and a plus-seven rating.
The Monarchs are vying to lock down the top seed in the Eastern Conference. With 98 points and four games remaining, they are four points up on the Springfield Falcons (Columbus), who have one game in hand. Manchester trails the Texas Stars (Dallas) by one point for the best overall record in the American Hockey League. Texas also has one game in hand.
The Monarchs conclude the schedule with a home-and-home set with Portland (Phoenix) on Wednesday and Saturday, followed by a Sunday road game at Providence (Boston). Their final regular season game is next Friday at Providence.
