With the players who did not travel to Sochi for the Olympics set to resume practice at 2:00 p.m. at Toyota Sports Center today, the Kings recalled Tanner Pearson, Linden Vey and Tyler Toffoli from AHL-Manchester. It is expected that the trio will be on the ice when the team reconvenes.
With the needed space allocated through Colin Fraser’s assignment to Manchester on February 9, the moves give the Kings 23 players on the active roster.
Martin Jones, who has won four consecutive starts for the Monarchs, was not among the call-ups. Manchester faces Springfield, Portland and Worcester in a weekend three-in-three beginning Friday night, and because of the team’s desire for Jones to see live game action during the Olympic Break, it wouldn’t be surprising for the news of his recall to come during or after this weekend’s games. J.F. Berube, who was recalled by the Kings on February 7 to maintain the two goalie minimum on the active roster, will be on the ice with the team this afternoon.
Toffoli, last week’s AHL Player of the Week, has five goals, eight points and 21 shots on goal in the five games since he was assigned to Manchester on February 7. He has 24 points (15-9=24) in 18 games with the Monarchs and 19 points (10-9=19) in 39 games with the Kings.
Vey has 35 points (11-24=35) in 31 games with the Monarchs and five assists in 15 games with the Kings.
Pearson has 32 points (17-15=32) in 41 games with the Monarchs and one goal in eight games with the Kings.
