On whether Matt Greene will play tonight:
No. He’s ready. I’m not playing him.
On whether the same evaluation applies to Trevor Lewis:
Lewie’s still a little ways away.
On Los Angeles allowing two goals or less in each of the last 15 games:
You have to do it over 82 games in order to make the playoffs.
On whether there’s any satisfaction over the 15-game run:
I don’t really look at it like it’s 15 games. It’s home-road, road trips, home stands, west, in conference, out-of-conference, in division, out-of-division. There’s a lot more that goes into it than the past 15 games.
On Drew Doughty expressing concern over the power play’s struggles:
It’s good if Drew’s concerned, because he plays a lot on it. [Reporter: Are you more concerned about the lack of production on the power play than you are about the satisfaction of playing well defensively?] The power play just has to score big goals. That’s all.
On whether he confirms his goaltenders:
No. And that’s not necessarily the one who comes out first, though.
On Martin Jones showing poise for a “kid” on a call-up:
They’re both kids, and they’re both trying to buy us some time until Jonathan Quick comes back, and whichever one plays best gets to play.
On the Doughty-P.K. Subban matchup:
Well, they don’t really match up against each other. They both play a lot of minutes. They’re both important players on their teams. It’s not a ‘matchup.’ It’s more that they’re both elite defensemen.
On the approach to facing teams they don’t see often:
For us, it’s that we’re starting a long trip again. It’s more about us than the other teams. I think that you’re not going to sneak in and sneak out. We know that. Try and be ready for a team that’s really good at home.
On the potential for a Doughty-Subban pairing at the Olympics:
They both play right side. I don’t think that that would be a wise hockey move, would it?
On what he expects from the Montreal Canadiens:
Good team. They have a lot of skill up front and good special teams. [They] utilize their bench good, and obviously with Carey in goal there, they are dominant in that area.
