There’s no real mystery about what ails the Kings these days. They are 4-8 in their last 12 games. In the four victories, they totaled 16 goals. In the eight losses, they totaled 13 goals.
Today, Terry Murray talked about what the Kings are doing to try for more scoring, particularly in terms of generating second and third chances…
MURRAY: “There’s things we can do, and we’ve been doing them in practice. We’ve been really focusing on the rebounds, the sticks on the ice being ready, the shot mentality, net presence. All of that stuff is going to create some opportunities. Here in this practice we just finished, we spent time on O-zone play, the cycle, and more of a mentality that you’ve got to get an attack going from above the goal line than from below.
“I thought, last night, there was time that we spent behind the goal line that didn’t really get the result you’d like to have. So we spent time here today (talking about) get it above the top of the circle, above the goal line, and attack from those areas, which would create more second and third opportunities.”
