Per the NHL Department of Player Safety, Kings forward Jordan Nolan was fined $1,436.94 by the league for his second period crosscheck of Canucks forward Henrik Sedin in yesterday’s 1-0 loss to Vancouver. No penalty was called on the play.
Because Nolan is a first-time offender, the maximum he could be fined was the lesser of $10,000 or one-half of his daily salary.
He is the first King to receive a fine in 2012-13. No Los Angeles players have been suspended by the NHL Department of Player Safety in the last two seasons. The last King to be suspended was Jarret Stoll, who received a one-game suspension for his check from behind on Sharks defenseman Ian White in Game 1 of the 2011 Western Conference Quarterfinals.
Nolan, 23, has two goals and five points in 28 games.
