The playoff rock pile is starting to break up a little bit. Nashville eliminated Detroit on Friday, St. Louis eliminated San Jose yesterday and Philadelphia eliminated Pittsburgh today. The Kings would like to join that list today, but of course it won’t be easy. Jarret Stoll has been there. In 2006, his Edmonton Oilers were seeded eighth and reached the Stanley Cup Finals. Facing an elimination game in Game 5, the Oilers beat Carolina, then won again in Game 6 before they finally fell to the Hurricanes in Game 7.
STOLL: “In the Finals, we were down 3-1 and we got her to Game 7. I know, definitely, that 3-1 can become 3-3 pretty quickly, if you don’t take care of the right things and have the right attitude. That’s what it’s all about for us right now, is the right attitude and the right frame of mind. We know we’ve won in Vancouver. We’ve played well there and we can do it again. It’s not just going to happen. It’s got to be done from within and from everybody in the room, not just one line, two lines. We need a full-team effort there.’’
