Darryl Sutter’s postgame thoughts…
(on the game…)
SUTTER: “It was a solid game. A good first period. As the first went along, they came at us a little more, and I thought we had a really good start to the second, and that kept us there again.’’
(on responding to Stamkos’ goal…)
SUTTER: “You’ve got to tough your way through it. A broken-stick goal. He makes a great play and he breaks his stick, but that’s what happens.’’
(on Jonathan Quick’s game…)
SUTTER: “He was voted to the All-Star team for a good reason, or chosen. If you look at it, the two goalies with the best save percentages are the Rangers and our goalies. That’s the stat that usually defines a goaltender.’’
(on responding to the Carolina loss…)
SUTTER: “You just move on. We talked to the guys this morning, and said, `Everything we did good, let’s keep it going.’ Keep the compete level high, and just work on finishing the job.’’
(on the importance of the first goal to the Kings…)
SUTTER: “Every team. The first goal, in the NHL, pretty much sets the tone, when you look at it. It makes a huge difference to every club. If you’re a young club, even more so.’’
