Wednesday practice update

Dean Lombardi held a post-practice meeting with the team — his second meeting with them in three days — but players left no indication that they had been told about the hiring of Darryl Sutter (or anyone else for that matter). Lombardi declined to give a further update on the coaching “search,” such as it is, but plans are for interim coach John Stevens to remain behind the bench tomorrow.

As for the on-ice product, Willie Mitchell is not expected to play tomorrow, and Stevens said that, due to the recent turmoil, he had not received an update on Mike Richards in the last couple days. The team went through a high-tempo, spirited practice today, with a lot of on-ice chatter, a stark contrast to the somber tone of the past couple days.
