Yesterday, we discussed the dwindling number of actual training-camp days, and just to drive home the point even further, some deep roster cuts are expected soon, proabably by the end of the weekend. The Manchester coaches and staff with be leaving Los Angeles on Monday, and the Kings’ staff also leaves Monday for the two-game exhibition trip to Kansas City and Denver. With 53 players still in camp, and probably only 35 or so making the exhibition trip, time is running short. Consider, though, that San Jose — which doesn’t have an abbreviated camp — is already down to 39 players.
Because the Kings are starting their season in Europe, they will be allowed to bring an extra goalie, for emergency purposes, and also expect them to have a full complement of 23 players on the active roster. Still, time is running short. The Kings play exhibition games next Friday (in Anaheim) and Saturday (in Las Vegas), but by then the roster will essentially have to be set, because the team is leaving Saturday night for Europe.
Just to clarify, here is the lineup for tomorrow’s game against Anaheim…
