Overtime
4:23 – Jackson Lacombe goes coast-to-coast and then five-hole with a backhand to win the game for the Ducks. It was Anaheim’s first chance at the Kings net during the overtime period.
Third Period
20:00 – After a much improved second, the Kings take the ice for the third in an even game with Anaheim.
19:30 – Just 30 seconds into the final frame, Alex Laferriere found himself with a 2-on-1 opportunity alongside Charles Hudon. Laferriere elected to take the shot and launched the puck wide left of the net.
16:11 – Anaheim heads to the power play after TJ Tynan inadvertently hit Leo Carlsson with a high stick.
14:31 – We’ll have 4-on-4 play after Ducks forward Brock McGinn was called for interference. After 20 seconds of it being even-strength, the Kings will go to their second man-advantage of the day.
13:54 – LAK Goal – The Kings didn’t take long to set up and convert on the power play with Alex Laferriere, who initially lost control of the puck, but quickly flung it to the net. The low shot beat Suchanek and gave LA its first lead of the day. Assists on the goal went to Charles Hudon and TJ Tynan.
12:19 – LA is back on the power play after a minor penalty was called on Anaheim’s Nick Wolff.
10:11 – ANA Goal – Not only were the Kings unsuccessful on the power play, but an ill-timed puck bounced out to neutral ice as Wolff was about to leave the penalty box. The Ducks defender picked up the puck and sent it to Jackson Lacombe, who beat Ingham with a wrist shot up high, just under the bar, to tie the game.
7:10 – Anaheim’s Carey Terrance got a stick in the skate of Hudon and will sit two minutes for tripping. The Kings are on their fourth power play of the game.
5:00 – Hudon and Pinelli both had good looks at the net, but the Kings were unable to convert on the late man-advantage.
Second Period
20:00 – The Kings and Ducks are back on the ice for the middle frame!
13:06 – Anaheim controlled the momentum early in the second, but the Kings had some offensive zone time prior to the first media timeout of the period and had two looks at the net including a shot from in tight by Samuel Helenius.
11:38 – Tyler Madden put another pair of shots at the Ducks net after a good cycle in the offensive end which were both turned out by goaltender Calle Clang.
9:08 – The Ducks changed out their goaltenders at the midway point of the period and the game, bringing on Tomas Suchanek in place of Calle Clang. Suchanek was greeted with a pair of chances immediately and made a lunging glove save on Charles Hudon’s backhand bid from in tight.
6:14 – Hayden Hodgson, who has landed a few big open ice hits in the game, drew the attention of Sam Carrick after another big collision just inside the Ducks end. The two dropped the gloves for an even bout and each received fighting majors.
2:35 – LAK Goal – Francesco Pinelli ties the game at 1-1 late in the second with a wrist shot from the right circle that beat Suchanek. An Anaheim defender may have tipped the shot, which confused the Anaheim netminder.
0:00 – All tied up with 20 minutes remaining to decide a winner!
First Period
20:00 – The Kings and Ducks are underway in Anaheim!
18:30 – Things have been pretty wide open in the early going, with both clubs generating chances on goal. For LA, Alex Laferriere had an open look in front of the net off a centering feed by TJ Tynan and moments later Tyler Madden set up Martin Chromiak for a point-blank shot.
16:41 – A tripping penalty to Carey Terrance has the Kings on an early power play.
14:30 – Anaheim is back to even strength after an uneventful penalty kill. The best Kings look at the net came from Charles Hudon.
11:40 – Leo Carlsson just rang a wrist shot off the post behind Jacob Ingham. The game score remains scoreless.
11:06 – Cole Krygier is sent to the box for high sticking, giving Anaheim its first man-advantage of the day.
9:05 – The Kings match the Ducks with a penalty kill of their own. Ingham has looked sharp so far, almost 12 minutes in.
4:09 – ANA Goal – A give-and-go from Anaheim left Sam Carrick open at the top of the crease and he slid the puck past Ingham to put Anaheim up 1-0.
2:37 – LA goes back to the penalty kill late in the period due to a slashing call on Krygier.
0:00 – The Kings finished 2-for-2 on the penalty kill in the frame but lost the momentum after controlling the play early on. Anaheim has a one-goal lead after 20 minutes.
