Kings 2, Coyotes 3
Final Score

Third Period
20:00 – Jacob Oster leads the Kings onto the ice for the third period, replacing Jacob Ingham who stopped 21 shots through the first 40 minutes.
16:51 – Oster has had action around the crease early in his Rookie Faceoff debut but has looked confident, making saves on the first four shots he’s seen. But now he’ll likely see more chances as the Kings get called for an early penalty to put Arizona on the power play.
16:26 – The Coyotes penalty comes to an end early as Geekie was called for cross-checking Samuel Helenius. We’ll have 4-on-4 play for 1:35.
12:22 – After a penalty to Arizona, it’ll be another 4-on-4 situation as Sean Tschigerl goes off for hooking. The officials have been calling a tight game today.
11:06 – Kaleb Lawrence is now in the penalty box for a high sticking infraction. The Coyotes have their third 5-on-3 of the game for 40 seconds.
9:57 – The Kings were able to kill the first penalty to Tschigerl, but Conor Geekie stepped behind a defender on a rush up the ice and beat Oster up high to give Arizona a 2-1 lead.
8:56 – Defender Chase Pauls was called for a cross-checking penalty while fighting for positioning on the end boards. Arizona heads back to the power play with a 2-1 lead.
7:52 – Aku Raty adds a third power play goal of the day for the Coyotoes on a wrist shot from the right circle. Arizona has increased its lead to 3-1.
6:40 – Just had an up-close look at defensive prospect Jakub Dvorak’s shot, as he sent two pucks toward the Coyotes net in a matter of seconds. The first attempt was saved, while the second one sailed just high of the goal.
2:32 – LAK GOAL – Martin Chromiak snuck behind the defense and unleashed a heavy wrist shot that sailed into the net to cut Arizona’s lead to 3-2.
1:29 – LA’s net is empty with about 90 seconds remaining in the game.
0:00 – A desperation effort in the final seconds came up short for the Kings, who fall to Arizona 3-2 this afternoon.

Second Period
20:00 – Back for period two and still looking for our first goal of the day!
19:45 – The Coyotes, who started the frame on the power play, have evened things up, taking a tripping penalty just 15 seconds in.
18:43 – Another tripping penalty to Arizona, which gives the Kings a 4-on-3 for 35 seconds.
18:17 – LAK GOAL – Jamsen takes advantage of the man-advantage to score his first goal of the event off a cross-ice feed by Martin Chromiak and give the Kings a 1-0 lead.
16:29 – Although the Kings couldn’t convert on the tail end of their second power play, a slashing call puts them back on the man-advantage again.
14:50 – Late in the power play, Isaac Johnson had an open net to shoot at off a shot that deflected off the back boards and toward the front of the cage. He apparently just missed, however, and the puck was confirmed to have stayed out of the net even after a quick huddle by the on-ice officiating crew.
13:24 – Cole Krygier has been taken to the penalty box after a hit along the boards in the Kings’ own zone which was called interference.
12:15 – Max Coyle denied an Arizona chance with a nice shot block near the middle of the zone. Coyle has had multiple timely blocked shots in the first two games for the Kings this week.
11:15 – The penalty to Krygier has been killed and the Kings return to full-strength as we approach the midway point of the period.
9:36 – Arguably the best shift of the day for the Kings top line which resulted in looks at the net for Chromiak, Krygier and Helenius.
8:26 – Isaac Johnson with another great look at the Coyotes net, but this time he dished the puck off to linemate Ryan Francis for a backhand shot that was stopped by goaltender Anson Thornton. After the play, Easton Armstrong was called for slashing in the crease during a scrum. Arizona heads to the power play.
7:39 – The Coyotes power play will now be a 5-on-3 after a penalty to LA’s Hunter Mayo for holding during the penalty kill.
7:06 – After using their timeout to draw up a play, Arizona’s Conor Geekie snuck a wrist shot under the left arm of Ingham to get the Coyotes on the board and tie the game 1-1.
6:28 – Penalties becoming a problem for the Kings as Nousiainen is taken to the box for kneeing. Arizona has a second consecutive 5-on-3 for 50 seconds.
4:00 – Jacob Ingham made no less than six saves during Arizona’s second 5-on-3 look to keep the game tied. He is now up to 21 stops in the game, continuing his excellent play.
3:25 – The Kings now get another chance on the power play as Arizona’s Maveric Lamoureux was called for elbowing.
0:00 – After 40 minutes, today’s game remains tied after each team got on the board in the second.

First Period
20:00 – The Kings and Coyotes are underway in Game 2 of this week’s event!
17:46 – LAK heads to an early power play after an Arizona penalty less than three minutes into the game.
15:45 – The Coyotes get the penalty kill, shutting down any Kings chances on the opening man-advantage.
13:35 – Really nice shift for LAK over the last minute or so, which saw Chromiak and Krygier take control in the offensive zone to generate multiple opportunities on Arizona’s net.
10:30 – Arizona produced the best two chances of the period so far, but Ingham stopped the first attempt and the second just missed what was an open net. The game remains scoreless.
10:02 – Moments after the Coyotes’ chance, Kim Nousiainen hit the post for LA on a shot from the top of the right circle. The puck clanged high off the right post, almost up to the crossbar and stayed out.
8:06 – Matching minor penalties for holding were handed out on each side and the teams are skating 4-on-4.
1:41 – Easton Armstrong got a little too close to the crease while fighting for space in front of the net and knocked into the goaltender, forcing a stop to play.
0:09 – A tripping penalty was assessed to Ty Thorpe during a sequence that had the Kings threatening in the offensive zone. LA will begin the second period shorthanded.
0:00 – There were a few scary moments, but overall another solid period in between the pipes for Jacob Ingham. Both teams had eight shots on goal during the first frame.
