Matt Greene’s postgame thoughts…
(on the intensity of the game…)
GREENE: “At this time of the year, with points meaning so much, and closing out the year, everybody wants to have their game going, going into the playoffs. These guys, they still had to get in the playoffs, and they did that tonight. It was a good game, a good game back and forth all night. A lot of chances, and both goaltenders played well and both teams came ready to play. it was a fun game to be a part of. It’s too bad about the outcome.”
(on defending Teemu Selanne…)
GREENE: “You do anything you can do to try to slow that guy down. He’s a Hall of Famer, and rightfully should (be). He still brings it every night. You’ve got to do what you can. I’m not going to outskate him or out-skill him, so you might as well try to get a body on him somehow. Again, he just gets the job done, night in and night out. He had both of them tonight.”
(on still being able to finish fourth in the Western Conference…)
GREENE: “I think we need some help now. I think this is the first time where it hasn’t been in our own hands, and that’s not what we wanted to do, but we’ll come back tomorrow. We’ve got to win tomorrow. Everybody wants to go into the playoffs with a win under our belts, playing hard and doing the right things. Hopefully that comes tomorrow. Maybe we get some help and maybe we don’t, but our focus now is on tomorrow, and not what’s going on around the league.”
