Scouting the Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers announced today that goalie Devan Dubnyk will indeed get the start against the Kings tonight. For the season, 24-year-old Dubnyk has a 4-3-5 record, a 2.72 goals-against average and a .922 save percentage, and he’s coming off Thursday’s victory over San Jose, in which he stopped 41 of 43 shots. Dubnyk has allowed two or fewer regulation goals in four of his last five starts, including the Dec. 23 game against the Kings, when he stopped 27 of 29 shots but lost in a shootout. Special teams is an area of concern for the Oilers, who are 0-for-27 on the power play in their last nine games and have allowed four power-play goals in their last three games.
