Terry Murray’s postgame thoughts…
(on the game…)
MURRAY: “A lot of stuff happened out there tonight. It was a great start to the game. The first half of the game, I thought, was exactly what you want to have, with the compete, with the intensity and doing the right things, getting it in, scoring some goals. Then, things start to change after we give up that first goal. We got a little too casual, again, with puck management through the middle of the ice. We give them a lot of energy and give them a lot of life for the rest of the game, I thought, from that point. Bottom line is, you get that win. Hopefully good things can start to happen here, if we build off this and move forward from the five-game losing streak.”
(on Jack Johnson’s contract extension…)
MURRAY: “That’s great for Jack. He’s a young guy that is going to be a great player in this game for a long time, so it’s good to get him locked him. Those young defensemen are hard to find, those young guys with skill and talent and ability like that. We’re hoping that he and Drew Doughty can end up being the anchors of this blue-line corps for a long time.”
(on his concern over Quick’s puck-handling…)
MURRAY: “I am concerned. You’re trying to build team confidence. You want to get through those rough spots, and there has to be reasons, and people, out there doing the job to help you get through tough spots. When you get a 4-0 lead like that, now you just want to play the right way. Your goaltender has to stay real sharp, do the right stuff, keep it simple, just stop the puck. We got into a little bit of a difficulty with some of the puck handling, puck management, and plays to the net. I think, when he’s on his game, those are easy plays for him.”
