The Kings’ first-line duo of Dustin Brown and Anze Kopitar has been on fire in December, which has helped compensate for the fact that second-line center Jarret Stoll has been in a bit of a drought. Stoll had seven goals in his first 19 games this season, but has only one goal in his 16 games and none in his last 11 games (Stoll has three assists in that span). Stoll’s shot-on-goal production has started to rise a bit in recent games, but when asked how Stoll might be able to improve his production, Terry Murray had a simple answer…
MURRAY: “Well, hit the net. Even on the power play, there are some plays when he’s playing on that left point, that I feel that he’s trying to score. He’s trying to put it under the crossbar. That’s too hard. That’s too fine of a spot. You’ve got to just get it to the net. Make the goaltender stop the puck. Shoot it at his goalie pads every time and, you know what, that will go in. That will find a way to find the five-hole or go short side, long side. But if you’re starting to aim the puck and do cute, fine things with your shot, it’s a hard game. It becomes very frustrating.”
