Ontario Reign Off-Season Signings as of July 31

As the month of July comes to a close, hockey season is inching ever closer in the Inland Empire.

In fact, we’re just 50 days away from the puck dropping at Toyota Arena for the 2026 Empire Classic, when the Los Angeles Kings host the Vegas Golden Knights on Sept. 19 at 7 p.m.

Two weeks later, the Ontario Reign return to action with a home-and-home series against the Coachella Valley Firebirds. The teams will meet Friday, Oct. 2, in Coachella before the Reign host their home opener at Toyota Arena on Saturday, Oct. 3.

During the month of July, the Reign announced the signings of five players to AHL contracts for the 2026-27 season.

Jacob Doty
The 33-year-old recently completed his seventh season with Ontario, recording four points (2G, 2A) in 48 games while leading the team with 88 penalty minutes and eight fighting majors.

A native of Billings, Montana, Doty is the longest-tenured member of the Reign roster and will begin his 13th professional season this fall. He ranks sixth in franchise AHL history with 235 games played, while his 444 penalty minutes are the second-most in team history.

Over 11 professional seasons from 2014-26, Doty has appeared in 306 AHL games with the Reign and Chicago Wolves, totaling 46 points (21G, 25A) and 664 penalty minutes.

Jack Millar
The 25-year-old defenseman signed a two-year AHL contract that keeps him with Ontario through the 2027-28 season.

Millar completed his second professional season in 2025-26, recording nine points (2G, 7A) in 40 games while finishing tied for second on the team with a plus-18 rating. He also appeared in five Calder Cup Playoff games, contributing one assist.

As a rookie in 2024-25, Millar skated in 62 games, recording 12 assists and a plus-19 rating. His plus-minus ranked tied for second among Reign skaters and first among all AHL rookie defensemen.

The Westminster, Colorado, native played 134 NCAA games at Colorado College from 2020-24, totaling 31 points (8G, 23A). He appeared in every game during each of his four collegiate seasons.

Mattias Sholl
Sholl enters his second professional season after spending last year under an AHL contract with the Reign.

The 25-year-old goaltender appeared in one game for Ontario while playing 22 contests with the ECHL’s Greenville Swamp Rabbits, posting an 8-9-2 record with a 2.77 goals-against average, a .911 save percentage and one shutout.

A native of Hermosa Beach, California, Sholl played 117 NCAA games from 2021-25, compiling a 52-51-12 record with a 2.58 GAA, .904 save percentage and six shutouts.

During the 2023-24 season, he was named CCHA Goaltender of the Year and earned First Team All-CCHA honors while helping his school capture the conference regular-season championship.

Ryan O’Hara
O’Hara also enters his second professional season after posting 42 points (15G, 27A) in 72 games with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits last season.

He made his professional debut late in the 2024-25 campaign, appearing in 10 games with Greenville and recording three points (1G, 2A).

The Oakville, Ontario, native played 131 career NCAA games at Bowling Green State University from 2021-25, totaling 89 points (36G, 53A). He served as team captain during his senior season and earned Second Team All-CCHA honors.

Owen Flores
The youngest of Ontario’s July signings, Flores enters his second professional season after spending 2025-26 under an AHL contract with the Rockford IceHogs.

The 22-year-old netminder appeared in five AHL games, posting a 3-1-2 record with a 1.98 goals-against average and a .928 save percentage. He also played 25 games with the ECHL’s Indy Fuel, finishing 11-10-4 with a 2.74 GAA, a .890 save percentage and three shutouts.

A native of Chicago, Illinois, Flores played four OHL seasons with the London Knights and Niagara IceDogs from 2021-25. He appeared in 155 career games, compiling a 47-74-17 record with a 4.19 goals-against average, a .890 save percentage and three shutouts.
