Jared Woolley, Kitchener Rangers Set To Begin OHL Finals

The OHL’s J. Ross Robertson Cup Finals are set to begin tonight and LA Kings prospect Jared Woolley will be involved for the third consecutive season.

Woolley is a part of a Kitchener Rangers team that is in search of their first OHL championship since 2008, after he was acquired via trade from the London Knights earlier this season. Woolley is a two-time OHL champion, having won with London in 2024 and 2025. Traded to the Rangers in what will likely be his final runthrough in the OHL, Woolley has advanced to this stage now for a third time and is hoping to return to the Memorial Cup for the third consecutive season as well. After falling just short in 2024, Woolley and the Knights won the Memorial Cup last season, cementing their place as the best team across the three CHL leagues. With new colors and teammates here in 2026, Woolley is looking to make it a three-peat at the OHL level to go out with a bang before he will likely begin his professional career either later this spring with the Ontario Reign or in the fall, having already signed an entry-level contract with the Kings.

In the Western Conference Finals, Woolley collected one assist in five games, as top-seeded Kitchener defeated second-seeded Windsor, losing just once along the way. In total during postseason play, Kitchener has lost just two games. In a decisive Game 5 in Round 2, Woolley scored the series-clinching goal, which came in the first period, as Kitchener won 5-1 against the Soo Grayhounds. Woolley had two points in the game and was selected as the third star of the evening in the victory. Woolley also had a multi-point night in Game 2 and collected an assist in Game 1, as he finished the second-round series at a point-per-game with five points (1-4-5) in five games played.

The Rangers will now take on the Barrie Colts in Round 4, who finished just two points behind the Rangers in the regular-season standings.

Come the Memorial Cup, Woolley will hope to become the second Kings prospect participating, with 2025 second-round pick Vojtech Cihar already qualifying with the Kelowna Rockets, who are hosting the tournament.

Cihar joined the Rockets midseason, moving to North America from his native Czechia, where he had played professionally in the first half of the season. Coming off an MVP-winning performance at the World Junior Championships and a silver medal, Cihar moved to the WHL and had a big second half. He was a point-per-game player in the regular season, with 31 points (12-19-31) in 31 games played. He added 13 points (6-7-13) in two rounds of playoff action, which led his team in scoring. Kelowna is hosting the 2026 Memorial Cup, so even though they were eliminated in Round 2, they still have games left to play. It’ll be an extremely long layoff for the Rockets, who have not played since April 17, so it will be close to a month between games. Cihar and his teammates will hit the ice at home to host the final tournament of the CHL season.
