REIGN FINAL – ONT 2, TUC 4

 The Ontario Reign (41-19-3-2) fell to the Tucson Roadrunners (30-24-9-0) Saturday night by a final score of 4-2 in front of 3,931 fans at Tucson Arena. The Reign will play in Coachella Valley on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. PST.

Ontario trailed 2-0 midway through the second period before Jakub Dvořák and Kenny Connors scored 4:41 apart from one another in the second half of the middle frame to tie the score. The game winning score came from Andrew Aggozino on the power-play with 7:56 to play before he added an empty netter with seven seconds to play.

 Tucson led 1-0 after the first period as Cameron Hebig got on the board just 1:57 into the contest when Ben McCartney in the high slot fed Cameron Hebig over on the far side of the crease. Then 1:51 later the Reign went on a power-play but were unable to convert as they finished 0-for-1 in the period. Shots were 11-10 Tucson in the frame.

The score was tied up at 2-2 through 40 minutes of play. Julian Lutz gave Tucson a 1-0 lead at 9:19 of the second period on a wrist shot from the center point after Ontario turned the puck over trying to clear it out of the zone. Then 66 seconds later Jakub Dvořák (4th) pulled Ontario back within one on a seeing eye shot from the center point with assists going to Andre Lee and Glenn Gawdin. Just 4:41 later Kenny Connors (12th) tied the game sending a shot from the inside hash marks through the legs of Hrabal on a feed from Aatu Jämsen behind the net and Koehn Ziemmer receiving the secondary assist. Shots were 13-7 Roadrunners in the stanza.

On their fourth power-play of the night the Roadrunners grabbed a 3-2 lead when Andrew Aggozino received a pass in the left circle and sent a wrist shot into the top right corner with 7:56 to play. Aggozino then sealed the deal with an empty net score with seven seconds remaining for a 4-2 final score.

Erik Portillo suffered the loss making 36 saves on 39 shots while Michael Hrabl made 22 saves on 24 shots for the win in his pro debut. Ontario went 0-for-3 on the power-play while Tucson was 1-for-5.
