Pheonix Copley claimed off waivers by Tampa Bay Lightning

Hey Insiders, sharing a quick update with you as the team is set to depart for Utah this afternoon.

Nine of the 10 players who were placed on waivers by the Kings on Wednesday morning went unclaimed by the 31 other NHL clubs. However, goaltender Pheonix Copley, who started and won LA’s most recent preseason game in Idaho on Tuesday night, was claimed by the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Copley, who returned last season after suffering an ACL injury while with the Kings during the 2023-24 campaign, was a workhorse down the stretch for Ontario a year ago, starting 42 games in the regular season while posting a 24-17-1 record with a 2.49 goals-against average and a .904 save percentage. He also saw action in one game for LA during a road contest in Toronto.

More updates coming soon when tonight’s preseason game in Utah gets underway!
