End of the line for this season, Insiders.
Exit interview day for the LA Kings will not be today, but expecting it to come over the next couple days. This is unfortunately a process we’re all quite familiar with at this time of the year. Will share key/pressing takeaways from those interviews once they happen and filter in player content over the coming week or so, mixing in coaching/management interviews once we speak with those individuals. Might be a few days still on the latter front.
For today, I’d just like to offer my thanks to everyone here in this community. As I’ve grown in this job, it’s really hit me this year how special this community is. Not that it didn’t before, but I don’t know, there was something a little bit different this year, in my head. There isn’t another team in the NHL with a website like this one. Every team has an official website, as the Kings do. But no other team has this hybrid site that blends the line between a team website and a media website like LAKingsInsider does. I know that not every decision made is what everyone wants it to be. And I know full well I am not the reason why this website works as well as it does. That long precedes me. But I am extremely grateful to be the individual steering the ship right now, because it is truly a 1-of-1 role in the NHL that I can only hope continues to prosper for some time.
So thank you – all of you – for continuing to make this website worth keeping around. I can’t express enough how special it is to be a part of. I don’t consider myself anywhere near perfect and not every day’s worth of content is perfect either. But with this team specifically, I take a lot of pride in having the only first-person account of day-to-day news and content on the LA Kings. There are a lot of different forms of coverage available and there’s no right way to do it. But in terms of the down and dirty grind, providing daily information, insights, quotes and commentary, this remains the only place where it exists from someone who is at every practice and every game. I truly take pride in delivering it and interacting with everyone along the way and I hope you all have enjoyed the bulk of what has been provided.
A couple too many paragraphs perhaps just to say thanks. So thank you. Sincerely. I hope to not be writing this next year at the same bat time on the same bat channel. If anyone would be interested, let’s arrange a time this summer for an Insider Suite Night off location, perhaps some time around the NHL Draft, to be able to connect once the dust settles down.
When we do get exit interviews, I’m expecting to hear from 10-15 players following the conclusion of the 2024-25 season. I am not necessarily expecting to hear from Jim Hiller, Rob Blake or Luc Robitaille on that first day, though it always changes year to year. We’ve seen different variations on those individuals speaking, depending on the season. I don’t know what combination of those three, or others, we could hear from in the coming days, but I’ll share those as well when the time comes.
Barring anything crazy today or tomorrow, won’t have any articles up between now and exit interviews. Time to decompress, slightly, with the season coming to a close.
