Another All-Star Weekend in the books!

A meaningful three days for Kings goaltender Cam Talbot, who represented the club this weekend in Toronto. In front of friends and family, Talbot represented the Kings with class and will now earn a few much-needed days off.

During Saturday’s All-Star game, Talbot played the first half for Team Hughes, as he stopped four of the six shots he faced, while also collecting an assist. In one of the most memorable plays of the day, Talbot launched a pass from his own goal line to the stick of Anaheim’s Frank Vatrano in stride, which the Ducks forward buried on a breakaway, for a 2-1 lead at the time. Talbot left the game at half with the score tied at 2, though his team would eventually be eliminated in the shootout, ending his All-Star experience.

On what it means to him to be an All-Star this late in his career
It means the world to me. To be able to share it with my kids, who are here with me, that’s the best part for me. I got to share it with them a couple of years ago, now they’re a little bit older and they’ll remember that much more. For it to be in Toronto, we’ve got a lot of family and friends in town, that makes it that much more special.

Last time, they tried to take in as much as they could, but they didn’t really grasp it as much as they do now. They’re a little bit older and they just want to be a part of everything, which is the best part for me.

Just getting out on the ice. It wasn’t the best result for myself, but getting to go up against the best players in the world and trying to stop a few breakaways and stuff like that, and have them on the bench watching, is a ton of fun.

All-Star coverage will continue in the coming days with Brandt Clarke set to represent the Ontario Reign today and tomorrow in San Jose at the AHL All-Star Classic. The Skills Competition is set for today at 5 PM Pacific, followed by the 3-on-3 tournament tomorrow at 6 PM Pacific. Both nights will be broadcast live on NHL Network and AHLTV. Jared Shafran will be in Northern California with full coverage from the event, with a lookahead and a story coming out of Clarke’s trip. We’ll also have full coverage tomorrow from Rob Blake’s press conference in El Segundo, following Friday’s coaching change, which will see Jim Hiller step in as the team’s interim head coach for the remainder of the 2023-24 season. Hiller is set to speak on Thursday, so plenty to come here over the next few days, preceding the team’s return to action this weekend.
