Anderson-Dolan, Tynan assigned to Ontario + Reign game tonight cancelled

Insiders, a couple of roster moves this afternoon, though neither of them will impact an Ontario Reign game this evening.

The Kings announced earlier today that forwards Jaret Anderson-Dolan and TJ Tynan have been assigned to the Reign. Both forwards joined the Kings for their recent trip to Edmonton, with Tynan making his Kings debut on Sunday against the Oilers, and also playing on Monday in Vancouver. Anderson-Dolan did not feature in either game.

Tynan centered a line with Carl Grundstrom and Arthur Kaliyev, taking the place of forward Blake Lizotte, who is currently sidelined while in the NHL’s COVID Protocol. Tynan averaged 10:50 of ice time across the two games, working in with the team’s second power-play unit. The Illinois native recorded a total of three shots on goal across the two games, featuring for his third NHL club in the process.

Anderson-Dolan did not get into a game, after he was added to the NHL roster following Lizotte’s placement in protocol. He did not practice with the team before departing for Edmonton, skating earlier that day with Ontario, and the Kings did not make any lineup changes following the win over the Oilers.

Both players now return to Ontario to add reinforcements to a Reign squad that dressed just 11 forwards over the weekend. Due to a combination of recalls, injuries and suspensions, Ontario had to play a forward short in a shootout victory over Bakersfield on Saturday. Alongside Tynan and Anderson-Dolan, forwards Quinton Byfield (injury) and Austin Wagner (suspension) were also expected to be options this evening. More to follow on Byfield’s recovery process later this week.

Why does none of this information impact a Reign game this evening?

Well…..the American Hockey League today announced that due to league COVID-19 protocols affecting the Bakersfield Condors, tonight’s game between Ontario and Bakersfield has been postponed.

Important to note that the game was not called off tonight due to any issues pertaining to Ontario, all strictly on the Condors end. The league added that the Condors organization is following enhanced protocols at the direction of team medical staff and the AHL.

The Reign are scheduled to return to action this weekend, with a home-and-home set against the San Diego Gulls slated to begin on Friday evening at Toyota Arena, followed by the return trip to San Diego on Saturday.
