The LA Kings announced earlier today that the team has issued qualifying offers to defenseman Austin Strand and forward Boko Imama.
Strand, 23, has skated in 84 games over the past two seasons with the Ontario Reign, collecting 33 points (15-18-33). Strand’s 15 goals are tied for fourth most in Reign franchise history by a defenseman, with his 33 points tied for seventh. The Calgary, Alberta native originally signed his entry-level contract with LA in November 2017, and began his professional career with ECHL-Manchester in 2018.
Imama, 24, has spent each of the last three seasons in the organization in the AHL and ECHL. The Montreal, Quebec native had his best statistical season in 2019-20, as he set AHL career highs in goals (4), assists (10) and points (14). Imama has amassed 20 points (7-13-20) in his 122 career AHL games.
Per CapFriendly, the qualifying offers for both players will be $700K at the NHL level. By issuing the offers, teams are given the right of first refusal or draft choice compensation should the player sign an offer sheet with another team.
