LA Kings alum Tobi Rieder is among the many Battle of Alberta transplants in the Calgary and Edmonton dressing rooms as Mike Smith and James Neal joined the Oilers and Rieder, Milan Lucic and Cam Talbot moved down the QE2. Rieder, who’ll play left wing opposite Michael Frolik on Andrew Mangiapane’s line tonight, is coming off a difficult season with Edmonton and hasn’t scored an NHL goal since he potted one in Dustin Brown’s four-goal game in the 5-4 overtime win versus Minnesota on April 5, 2018, but will be counted upon to add further speed and forechecking to a Flames team that plays with a good pace. After Calgary’s morning skate, and after explaining how he was able to score 113 goals in 34 games for Landshut’s U-16 team in 2007-08, Rieder joined LA Kings Insider to preview tonight’s game.
