INSIDERS. It is Multimedia Wednesday. That is not really a thing, except for today, when it is. First off, there’s a lot of around-the-clock LA Kings streaming audio content coming. Jesse Cohen and I got together yesterday to record a podcast (BELOW), but that’s only the beginning of it. He also spoke with Todd McLellan, a conversation that will soon be accessible via the LA Kings Audio Network on the iHeart Radio app. Here’s what’s going on now-now:
Anyway, podcasts. Audio streaming. The team will introduce a bunch of fun, recurring programs this season, so make sure you’re following @KingsMenPodcast on Twitter, though be warned – he’s got some craaaaaaazy ideas (like Vegas missing the playoffs). There’s a lot of great content coming down the road from Jesse and the team, beginning with our recap of camp, admiration for the Spittin’ Chiclets Mike Richards interview and surface-level evaluations of mid-1990 summer blockbusters:
Also! Video content. Zach Dooley wears a number of hats, as do all of those working across the American Hockey League and minor, junior and collegiate leagues. He’s officially the Manager – Communications & Content, Ontario Reign, but unofficially he’s the Reign Insider: a reporter, a public relations associate, social media and marketing director and liaison to the coaching staff and front office. He’s been fantastic in all of these areas and has also added some screen time to his malleable skill set. It got me thinking… perhaps I shouldn’t have hazed James as much as I did. (James, here’s your turtle, alive and well.)
Anyway, Zach and I recapped training camp and the preseason, and he’ll continue to provide Reign updates on television and radio broadcasts. Here’s a look at the last two weeks through what we’ve heard from the team, plus what we’ve been seeing with our own [bloggin’] eyes:
For local coverage, both Luc Robitaille and Kyle Clifford were guests on KFI-AM, where one host swing and missed with a question about Gary Sutter. (Sutter, not Suter.) You want to know more about Gary Sutter? Perhaps his appraisal of a brother’s infield skills? “He was the best shortstop I’d ever seen,” Gary said of Darryl. Anyway, two more audio embeds:
