Good morning, Dallas

Good morning, Dallas, good morning, Central Division, and good morning, Insiders.

Good morning, Game 1 of the World Series. The Dodgers went 1-1 while we were in Ottawa earlier this month, bringing my all-time Dodgers record in Canada’s capital to 2-1. Good news for Mrs. Insider: They did not finish 3-0, which by law would’ve forced our family to relocate to the suburb of Barrhaven. Are you superstitious? Do you have a lucky piece of Kings paraphernalia that you wear to games? Do you sit in a particular position on the couch as not to disrupt the perfect sports-time continuum? Would you consider moving your family to Ottawa because of the Dodgers’ record when you visit? (Or, on the other end of the spectrum, have you outgrown an oversized balance professional sports have on your life when compared to your career, your family and other interests? Probably not, if you’re posting on an LA Kings blog during the 7:00 morning hour.)

It has been comfortable, if overcast, since we touched down at Love Field just after 5:30 p.m. Monday afternoon:

Sadly, though there is a Medieval Times between Love Field and downtown Dallas, our traveling party has not dined in the court of Queen Maria Isabella, whose royal chefs are acclaimed for their breast of roasted chicken and twice-baked potatoes. Rather than appreciate equine beauty and the savagery of noble jousting, we dined out at Rodeo Goat, a burger joint separated from Medieval Times by a Denny’s. I’ve been trying to eat healthier on the road, so naturally I had a burger and tater tots and dug in to Greg Longstaff’s chips and queso. We were also joined by the welcome company of an esteemed Kings broadcasting alum:

The Kings are scheduled to skate at the American Airlines Center at 11:30 a.m. CT in advance of tonight’s game against the Dallas Stars. This game will be broadcast on KCOP-13, not FOX Sports West, but will have the same crew and format. You know this drill.

Thank you as always for reading, Insiders. Notes and news of substance will follow throughout the day.
