Via the LA Kings, the pre-camp injury report:
-Derek Forbort (back): Expected on the ice tomorrow but not a full session.
-Gabe Vilardi (back): Not expected on the ice tomorrow. Considered week to week.
-Austin Strand (concussion symptoms): Not expected on the ice tomorrow. Considered week to week.
This was largely as expected; Forbort is the closest to being able to participate in camp but won’t be full-go at the outset of camp. Vilardi has skated recently, but the “week-to-week” designation indicates that there are still several hoops he’ll have to clear to get back into more advanced practice and game situations. As of now, there’s no timetable on that process. He’s been on hand at the Kings’ facility and though he couldn’t participate in rookie camp was able to watch at ice level. Strand, who left the final game of the Vegas Rookie Faceoff early, will have the first training camp of his professional career delayed by an injury suffered against the Golden Knights. Early check-ins with Kings staff expressed encouragement in Strand’s game during the three rookie games over the weekend.
John Stevens will speak with the media after the 1:30 camp session each day. More detail on Forbort, Vilardi and Strand’s availability will be shared after Friday’s sessions.
