Good Morning, Raleigh

Greetings from Raleigh, N.C., Insiders where the weather is a bit cooler and cloudier than what we had in Florida. Now I can finally start digging into the winter clothing – though it’s 70 degrees today, we’re supposed to see a 20-plus degree drop here in the next couple of days. As you can see by the picture from my hotel room, there are no Munters here. That’s in part because we’re not exactly staying in an urban locale. Also this hotel does a nice job in making sure our views are of mostly ‘nature-y’ things. At this point in the trip after some cross-country travel followed by a back-to-back, being ‘off-the-grid’ so to speak feels pretty nice.

I’ve always really enjoyed coming to Raleigh because the area has such a varied portfolio of beloved sports teams. Along with the Carolina Hurricanes – the Kings’ Tuesday night opponent – this location has major college sports with NC State, UNC and Duke along with the Durham Bulls baseball team – as made famous by the iconic film “Bull Durham.” Also, I’m looking forward to seeing Hartford Whalers gear being sold in the Hurricanes team store as the team is now paying homage to its past in the Connecticut capital.
