Kings assign four to juniors

One quick note before hitting the hay in advance of an early morning flight to Beijing:

With the Canadian Hockey League resuming play, three teams are getting key guys back.

The Los Angeles Kings announced that forward Drake Rymsha (Sarnia) and defensemen Jacob Friend (Owen Sound), Markus Phillips (Owen Sound) and Jacob Moverare (Mississauga) have been assigned back to their Ontario Hockey League teams, reducing the number of players in training camp to 66.

Moverare, who is ticketed for World Junior Championship play with Sweden this winter (and a potential defensive pairing with uber-prospect Rasmus Dahlin), will be an interesting player to watch on a stacked Steelheads team that will open the year ranked fourth in the CHL’s preseason rankings. Meanwhile, Friend and Phillips return to Owen Sound, which ranks second across the three major junior leagues.

More to come from the team’s Friday trip to the Great Wall of China…
