Sportsnet Video: Mike Richards – A Passion for Winning

Today’s recommended video comes to you courtesy of Sportsnet. Producers traveled to Mike Richards’ Western Ontario home of Kenora to check in with him and those who know him well to put together a feature on his background, and how he dealt with his June, 2015 arrest at the United States border.

Tomorrow will be the five-year anniversary of the conclusion of Los Angeles’ sweep of St. Louis in 2012, a series in which Richards totaled two goals, five points and a plus-five rating and registered a Gordie Howe Hat Trick in Game 3 when he fought Jamie Langenbrunner. He also scored one of his odd-angle power play goals in that game, which was similar to the Kings’ very first goal that playoff run, a five-on-three attempt that sneaked through Roberto Luongo. The line I kept thinking over and over that spring, and then in the months that followed, was that “Mike Richards kind of has this playoff hockey thing figured out.”
