Tkachuk gets two-game suspension for elbowing Doughty

The NHL’s Department of Player Safety handed down a two-game suspension to Calgary Flames forward Matthew Tkachuk for elbowing Drew Doughty “in a way that can not be considered inadvertant, reflexive or defensive.” In an interesting observation, the video cited Tkachuk removing his left hand from his stick in advance of throwing the elbow to support the verdict.

Via the NHL’s release, Tkachuk forfeits $10,277.78. That money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
