March 20 postgame notes

-With the loss, Los Angeles fell to 81-82-39 all-time against Edmonton, a record that includes a road mark of 38-46-18. The Kings fell to 1-2-0 in the season series with the Oilers, with games remaining on March 28 at Rogers Place and April 4 at Staples Center.

-Los Angeles fell to 19-17-5 against the Western Conference, 9-11-2 against the Pacific Division, 6-8 in two-goal games, 14-26-2 when the opponent scores first, 8-20-2 when trailing after one period and 26-21-3 when outshooting their opponent.

-The Kings were shut out for the ninth time this season and were held to either zero goals or one goal for the 23rd time in 72 games.

-Over the last five games, Los Angeles has scored seven goals on 177 shots for a shooting percentage of 3.95% (courtesy Arpon Basu). Edmonton blocked 35 shots on Monday, with Andrej Sekera and Kris Russell blocking a game-high seven shots, and Adam Larsson blocking six.

-With Milan Lucic’s power play goal, the Kings’ string of 34 consecutive road penalty kills since John Tavares’ power play empty net goal on January 21 at Barclays Center ended. Los Angeles has killed off 63-of-68 power plays overall.

-The Kings attempted 84 shots (35 on goal, 35 blocked, 14 missed). The Oilers attempted 61 shots (31 on goal, 15 blocked, 15 missed). Patrick Maroon and Milan Lucic finished tied with a game-high five shots on goal, while Jarome Iginla led Los Angeles with four shots on goal. All Kings finished with at least one shot on goal except for Jordan Nolan.

-Los Angeles won 29-of-56 faceoffs (52%). Anze Kopitar won 13-of-22, Nic Dowd won 2-of-10, Adrian Kempe wopn 2-of-7 and Jeff Carter won 12-of-17,

Tuesday, March 21 is an off-day for the Kings. The next practice is scheduled for Wednesday, March 22 at Toyota Sports Center.
