March 9 postgame notes

-With the win, Los Angeles improved to 34-25-8 all-time against Nashville, a record that includes a home mark of 17-14-3. The Kings swept the season series with the Predators for the first time in the teams’ head-to-head histories. With the overtime win, Los Angeles improved to 4-0 against Nashville in overtime since the start of the 2015-16 season.

-The Kings improved to 19-14-4 against the Western Conference, 10-5-3 against the Central Division, 18-11-6 in one-goal games, 11-3 in games decided in overtime, 13-23-2 when their opponent scores first, 8-18-2 when trailing after the first period, 11-3-4 when tied after two periods and 24-19-2 when outshooting their opponent.

-Since the implementation of three-on-three overtime, Los Angeles is now 23-6 in games decided in OT. Their .793 winning percentage leads the league.

-The Kings have seven power play goals over the last four games (7-for-14; 50.0%) and have power play goals in four straight games. This is the most consecutive games Los Angeles has scored a power play goal this season and longest since January 11-19, 2016 (four games). The Kings scored multiple power play goals in consecutive games for the first time since December 18-27, 2014. The three power play goals is the most since they scored three in a 4-1 win over Ottawa on December 10. The last time Los Angeles scored four power play goals in a game was a 4-for-5 performance in a 6-5 shootout loss to San Jose on April 5, 2012.

-The Kings have one five-on-five goal in their last four games (Tanner Pearson, third period vs Toronto, 3/2/17). Over that span, they’ve scored seven power play goals and one shorthanded goal.

-By killing off both Nashville power plays, Los Angeles has killed off 48 of their last 50 shorthanded situations since John Tavares’ power play empty net goal on January 21 at Barclays Center. The 96.0% success rate is the best in the NHL over that span and has boosted the team’s overall percentage to 85.2%, which ranks third in the league.

-Jarome Iginla (2-0=2) registered his first multi-goal game of the season and his first game-winning goal of the year. The goals were the 620th and 621st goals of his career and his 195th and 196th power play goals. He now has 42 goals and 69 points in 68 career games against Nashville. He logged a season-high 20:02 of ice time and finished with six shots on goal, eight shot attempts and seven hits, all game-highs.

-The Kings attempted 63 shots (34 on goal, 15 blocked, 14 missed). The Predators attempted 52 shots (23 on goal, 12 blocked, 17 missed).

-Los Angeles won 34-of-70 faceoffs (49%). Among regular performers, Anze Kopitar won 14-of-23, Nic Dowd won 2-of-10, Adrian Kempe won 8-of-15, Jeff Carter won 7-of-17 and Jarome Iginla won 2-of-4.

The Kings are scheduled to practice at 11:00 a.m. at Toyota Sports Center on Friday, March 10.
