On if it’s crazy to think this is Campbell’s 2nd shutout after all the work and success he’s had:
I didn’t even realize that, to be honest with ya. I guess that’s pretty good. He’s had a great year for us. It’s not so much about shutouts, it’s about the wins and he gets the job done for us. As well as I thought we played in front of him, man, he still had to make some tough saves. He was sharp.
On the game being a solid one all-around:
I thought it was excellent. We played exactly the way we needed to play. I thought we stuck with it for the full sixty minutes and I said after the game to Hajter, I said, why can’t we just play like this all the time? [Reporter: Makes it easy.] Yeah. But even I said, by chance you didn’t happen to win because of a bad bounce or unfortunate call or something, you could live with it because everybody was into it, everybody contributed, everybody played the way they needed to play. You’d like to bottle that one. Now I’ve got to start thinking about Friday already.
On what it’s going to take to have more games like this one:
Well, if I knew the answer to that one, oh man. You know what? The guys, they were dialed in. They were focused. Every line that climbed over the boards was determined to do the job that they needed to do. Even if we got a penalty, there was no quit, there was no stop, you just, OK, we’ll deal with it. So, that’s what we gotta do. We gotta stay in the hunt here until we can get some guys back. Hopefully that improves our roster from an offensive standpoint because still, three goals might be the max for us at present.
On the power play being able to score eight seconds into the first chance:
Well I was just about to lose my mind because Henner lost the draw. So that usually means you’re 200 feet, going back to retrieve the puck. And there he goes, scampering to the net. Proved me wrong, didn’t he? All part of his plan.
On whether there was an update on D Craig Wyszomirski, who left injured in the third after a hit on Moroz:
I don’t know yet, Lindsay. I haven’t even spoken to Muirsy yet so I don’t know. He got jammed up right in front of the bench there. I don’t know. Just chalk it up to what, injury number, or potential body number 10 that can’t play?
On Mike Amadio’s progress:
I don’t know. You guys always ask me about Amadio’s progress and then we go back to the junior kid again. [Reporter: But the confidence on a 2-on-1 to notice the spot and shoot rather than pass to a veteran.] Yeah, well, you know what, that’s a good play. First of all, he hit the net, which sometimes we’re guilty of hard rim, which means we’re backchecking. Probably everybody was expecting him to pass to Seto and maybe that’s why he had the room that he had. His hockey sense and his hockey IQ that’s never a question. It’s just a consistency and the maturity level that he’s only going to get through playing and the experience of playing each and every night and playing hard. That’s the biggest thing coming out of junior for Mads. He’s just a kid. I’m hoping he’s going to become a man overnight. It doesn’t happen but he’s an unbelievable player. He’s going to be a gem.
