February 18 postgame quotes: Pearson, Shore

Tanner Pearson, on the loss:
I think the first one in the third period, I didn’t get the puck in. That’s the way she goes sometimes. There are good players in this league. If you turn the puck over, it could end up in your net, and it did. We weren’t able to battle back.

Pearson, on whether this was the best the team had played in a loss, and whether that matters:
No, it doesn’t. I think we’re just trying to make the playoffs here. Every point counts, and today we did a good job of battling back, but it wasn’t enough.

Pearson, on whether the Kings are getting other teams’ top performances this late in the season:
I think there are a lot of teams playing for the same spot. Everyone wants to make the playoffs. We knew they were rolling right now. They did a good job battling back, and when we’re tied and going into the third period we’re usually a pretty confident team, but we let that one in and it cost us.

Pearson, on how to get “rolling” again:
I think just start playing our game. A big division game tomorrow night and a chance to climb back up the standings and get out of this and get those two points, so got to focus on tomorrow now and get ‘er done.

Pearson, on recent home losses:
I think you want to be a good team at home. You know you want to make sure teams come into this rink and then know who they’re playing. Letting these points slip away is not good for us, so we’ve got to keep on working and get the job done tomorrow.

Nick Shore, on the loss:
They just made a couple more plays than us. I think we definitely had our chances, and if we execute on a few of ‘em, the game’s a little different, but we’ve got to get right back after it tomorrow.

Shore, on whether Florida’s third goal was an example of Los Angeles being “snakebit”:
No, those things happen. That’s how a lot of goals go in nowadays. Boods was great for us all night and made a lot of big saves, so it’s really on us to score one more than they do.

Shore, on whether his confidence in all zones is growing as he gains experience:
I don’t think you look at it like that. Obviously you want to play with confidence at all times, but it’s a good group of guys in here, a lot of leadership guys that you can look to that lead the way for us, so try to go off them.

Shore, on what his line and linemates did well:
Like you said, it was jumbled a little bit tonight, but I think we’re at our best when we’re wearing teams down in the offensive zone, creating chances, and just need to put a few more in.

Shore, on whether he knew Dwight King’s goal would stand:
I mean, it’s tough for me to tell what’s going on when it’s like that. [Reporter: What did you see? The ceiling, and that’s about it?] Yeah, I didn’t know where it was.

Shore, on what the team needs to do to prepare for Sunday’s game in Anaheim:
Just get ready like it’s another game. Like you said, it’s a quick turnaround, but you can’t really focus on that. You just need to go in and get two points.
