As injuries pile up at forward, Reign recall Ciampini from Manchester

The Reign have recalled forward Daniel Ciampini from ECHL-Manchester, the team announced on Wednesday afternoon.

The move comes as a result of the many injuries currently effecting the team up front. Michael Mersch (lower-body) missed last Saturday’s game due an injury suffered Friday against Stockton and has missed practice for three straight days this week. Joel Lowry will be out an extended period of time with a lower-body injury and Andrew Crescenzi (lower-body) and Paul Bissonnette (lower-body) remain out.

The 26-year-old, Ciampini has 28 points (12-16) in 28 games with Manchester this season. The Reign agreed to terms with the Concord, Ontario, native over the summer and he was with the team through training camp. The lefthanded shooter is listed at 6-foot, 185 pounds.

In his first stint with pro hockey in the 2015-16 season, he appeared in 10 games with the Rockford IceHogs, scoring one goal. In that same season he appeared in 48 games with ECHL-Indy and had 14 goals and 24 assists.

In college, Ciampini played four full seasons with Division I Union College from 2011-2015 and was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award his senior campaign. A proven winner, Ciampini was part of the Dutchmen’s 2014 NCAA title and helped the team to back-to-back ECAC championships in 2012 and 2013.
