December 18 postgame notes

-With the loss, Los Angeles fell to 42-82-14 all-time against Boston, a record that includes a road mark of 16-48-6. These teams will meet next at Staples Center on February 23. 13 of the last 15 games between these teams have been decided by either one or two goals.

-The Kings fell to 8-6-1 against the Eastern Conference, 3-4-1 against the Atlantic Division, 9-4-2 in one-goal games, 6-9-1 when their opponent scores first, 4-7-2 when trailing after one and 4-3-0 when outshot by their opponent.

-Los Angeles was shut out for the fourth time this season. They were previously shut out at St Louis on October 29, at Chicago on October 30 and versus Anaheim on November 1. Tuukka Rask recorded his fourth shutout of the season, moving into a tie with Minnesota’s Devan Dubnyk for the league lead.

-The Kings fell to 3-3-1 during a stretch of eight consecutive games against Eastern Conference opponents (4-5 SOL vs MTL; 1-3 L vs CAR; 4-1 W vs OTT; 3-6 L @ BUF; 4-1 W @ DET; 1-0 OTW @ PIT; 0-1 L @ BOS; 12/20 @ CBJ). The Kings fell to 2-2-0 in their season-long nine consecutive games away from Staples Center (3-6 L @ BUF, 4-1 W @ DET, 1-0 OTW @ PIT; 0-1 L @ BOS; 12/20 @ CBJ; 12/22 @ NSH; 12/23 @ DAL; 12/28 @ VAN; 12/29 @ EDM).

-With a 4/4 performance, Los Angeles has killed off 17 consecutive penalties and have not allowed a power play goal since a 3/5 performance in the 5-4 overtime loss to Montreal on December 4.

-With a 9-of-15 faceoff performance, Jeff Carter has now won 180 of his last 312 faceoffs (57.7%). Over his last 16 games, he has won less that 50% of his draws only twice.

-Dustin Brown’s consecutive games played streak ended at 207 games. The new leader in consecutive games played is Drew Doughty with 195, followed by Jake Muzzin (189) and Tyler Toffoli (148). The team record is 330, set by Anze Kopitar between March 21, 2007 and March 26, 2011.

-The Kings attempted 48 shots (18 on goal, 20 blocked, 10 missed). The Bruins attempted 53 shots (30 on goal, 17 blocked, 6 missed). No King registered more than two shots on goal. Adam McQuaid led all skaters with four blocked shots. Patrice Bergeron led all skaters with six shots on goal and 10 shot attempts.

-Los Angeles won 29-of-55 faceoffs (53%). Anze Kopitar won 9-of-21, Andy Andreoff won 1-of-2, Nick Shore won 4-of-8, Nic Dowd won 6-of-9 and Jeff Carter won 9-of-15.
