December 13 postgame quotes: Backman

On his game-winner and breaking 14-game drought:
It feels good. I was struggling there for a bit and any time a player’s not scoring for a while it gets in his head a little bit and it did for me. But it’s nice to score that goal, especially being a game-winner tonight. Good for me to get the goal but even better to get those two points on the road here.

On how the goal drought wore on him:
I think it got to a point where I was making myself crazy thinking about it all the time. I had a little meeting with Stutts today and basically he told me to just play my game and do what I do and it went in for me tonight so I’m pretty excited about that.

On winning the first of four games this week:
It’s huge. We have a bit of a break coming up here and you want to get as many points as you can going into Christmas. It’s tough not to think about that break coming up but guys have to stay focused here, we still have a few games left and a little bit of work to do before we can have that holiday break.

On what to expect in facing Stockton on Wednesday in Ontario:
Another good game. We’ve got to take advantage of these home games. We were really good at home last year and we pride ourselves on the way we play at home. We’ve got to take advantage of these home games and get two points against a good hockey team.
