November 18: Bus Texts with Stothers

Today’s Bus Texts with Stothers are coming to you as the Reign head back from Stockton after a tough loss in OT.

Stockton 2, Reign 1 (OT)
Matt Bailey scored at 1:02 of overtime and the Reign lost their first meeting with Stockton this season. Reign goalie Jack Campbell stopped Morgan Klimchuk on a breakaway with an extended pad save but Bailey beat Paul LaDue to the rebound and hammered in his first goal of the season. Justin Auger opened the scoring at 14:50 of the first period. Auger was set up off a faceoff in the offensive zone in which Mike Amadio poked the puck to Brett Sutter on the right wall and Sutter found an open Auger in front of the net. Stockton tied the score with five seconds left in the first on a long, rising shot from Brandon Bollig at the top of the right circle that got in just under the bar. The Reign’s penalty kill finished a perfect 5-for-5 and Campbell was excellent in the third period, stopping all 12 shots he faced compared to the Reign’s five the other way. Campbell, who stopped 32 shots in all, flew up from Los Angeles this morning and was officially reassigned to the Reign this afternoon by the Kings.

BUS TEXTS WITH STOTHERS
ORI: Tough loss tonight but what positives can you take away from this one?
Stothers: It was a very entertaining game. Both teams brought their skating game. It was well played and had a playoff feel to it. Always good to get at least one point on the road.
ORI: I know it’s been a small sample size with Jack Campbell but did you like what you saw tonight, especially in the third and even on the breakaway save in OT?
Stothers: Campbell played very well for us tonight. He was big, and square, in the net. Challenged the shooters and controlled his rebounds. He was real good with the puck. He set it up well for the D and his exchanges with them were clean. That helped with getting out of our end efficiently.
ORI: Is Lintuniemi hurt or was this just a case in which you wanted some vetern presence with Bissonnette in the lineup?
Stothers: Coaches decision!!
ORI: Letting the guys have the weekend off?
Stothers: Yes, we will be back on the ice Monday.
