November 10 postgame quotes: Kopitar, Brown

Anze Kopitar, on the Kings’ powerplay and struggling to score against Carey Price:
You know we pride ourselves to be the motor of this team and the powerplay is one of those things so that was obviously an encouraging goal that we scored but we got to keep on building. We can’t go through slumps like we have been. We’ve got to keep hammering away, keep making the plays and obviously taking the shots that are there. We’ll get it done, I’m confident in our group that we will.

Kopitar, on the challenges of sustaining zone time against the Canadiens:
They obviously have a very fast team so skating up the ice you always have to be careful getting stripped from behind because that’s what they do and they do it good. You know we’re putting the pucks in their zone but it seems like Price has been stopping a lot of them and we just have to do a better job next time of keeping it away from the goalie. Not just tonight but we’ve got to do it on a nightly basis and tonight just wasn’t good enough.

Dustin Brown, on whether teams try “a little too hard” when facing Carey Price:
I don’t think so. Great players make great plays and I thought we made it much more difficult in the third but by then we were chasing the game.

Brown, on the challenges of sustaining zone time against the Canadiens:
Well they’re a fast team and they’re pretty good checkers but we weren’t very sharp with our passing. When we’re not sharp with our passing it really hurts our game. If you look at the games when we play really well our passing is on point and that allows us to go through all three zones pretty well and tonight our passing wasn’t very good. [Reporter: Is that just a spreading out to a five-man unit?] Yeah I mean, the support, the spacing, all that plays in to it.

Brown, on whether the power play goal was a silver lining:
Yeah, it’s progress, right? That’s just staying with it and getting better at it every day. Again, much like our game, I thought our power play was much better in the third. We started shooting the puck and that’s something I think we need to focus on more.

Brown, on whether anything can be taken from the game into tomorrow night against Ottawa:
You just take our third period really and try to roll with it, but I think every game you’ve got to hit the reset button and get ready because it’s a different team and a new game.
