Good morning, St. Louis

Good morning, Insiders, good morning, St. Louis, and good morning, first back-to-back of the season.

Well, here we are, on October 29 and 30, experiencing our only trips to St. Louis and Chicago. That doesn’t feel right – especially visiting Chicago for the only time on the second night of a back-to-back – but hey, them’s the breaks. I know we’re still in Missouri, but there has been a curiosity towards tomorrow’s game, which completely overlaps with Game 5 of the World Series. Thank goodness the United Center is nowhere near Wrigleyville, which I’d want to avoid like Gathering of the Juggalos for the next seven-to-10 days. (By the way, cool pitching duel last night, eh? There’s always fun drama in 1-0 playoff games.)

Enough about the Cubs while we’re in the city of their chief rival. (Not their Chief rival.) You may recall that there are three dreaded rooms at this particular team hotel: Bright Lights, Big City; Metal Grommet Apocalypse; or Ventilation Vibrations. Good news, everyone! We’ve drawn None Of The Above. The benign I-64 offramp room, which does not sound like a desired room at all but is actually quite good, will serve as LAKI HQ until 5:15 p.m.

A warm day segued into a perfectly comfortable night on the banks of the Mississippi, and there were some beautiful amber hues when our plane crossed the big river before touching down at St. Louis Downtown Airport.

That’s it for now, friends. Let’s talk soon from the Scottrade Center, where the Kings will take the ice for the morning skate at 11:30 a.m. Quick hits and morning skate notes will follow. Enjoy your Saturday, Insiders.
