Good morning, Calgary

Good morning, Calgary, and good morning, Insiders.

The team will head to the rink for meetings in just over half an hour, so this will be a short GM, C. But there was an interesting arrival in Calgary last night, when there were high wind warnings in the region and YYC experienced gusts of 75 km/h shortly after our arrival. (There is a reason why Lethbridge’s WHL team is called the Hurricanes.)

While walking back to the media bus after deplaning and retrieving our bags, there were gusts of wind that were literally pushing us sideways and making those of us who don’t necessarily have Anze Kopitar-like sturdiness walk in zig-zags to get out of the chilly, tempestuous weather. During our descent, the pilot of our plane told us to make sure our seatbelts were fastened because of turbulence ahead, and when we approached the runway, the plane fishtailed and yawed before touching down gracefully and caressed the runway, to quote Mr. Show, with the velveteen touch of a dandy fop. It was a perfect 10 landing. Thank you, Delta pilots.

So the team is heading to the dome this morning, but don’t expect any hints towards L.A. lineup adjustments. We’re not expecting anything resembling a full contingent of players on the ice. I’ll have an abbreviated Waking up with the Kings in the next hour-to-90 minutes.

Thank you for reading, Insiders, and enjoy your Tuesday.
