March 12 postgame notes

-With the overtime loss, Los Angeles fell to 53-31-15 all-time against the New Jersey franchise, a record that includes a home mark of 30-11-8. Road teams have won six of the last seven meetings in the series; in the last 10 home games against the Devils, the Kings are 3-6-2 and have lost two of the last three in overtime. Los Angeles finished the regular season series with a 0-1-1 record, having lost 1-0 at the Prudential Center on February 14.

-The Kings fell to 18-9-3 against the Eastern Conference and 9-5-1 against the Metropolitan Division.

-Los Angeles fell to 10-3 in games decided in overtime and 12-5 in games that extend past 60 minutes, while New Jersey improved to 8-1 in games decided in overtime and 11-7 in games that extend past 60 minutes.

-Darryl Sutter tied Larry Robinson for third place on the Kings’ all-time games coached list with 328 games coached.

-Of John Moore’s four goals this season, three have come in overtime. According to NHL Public Relations, the only other New Jersey defenseman with three overtime goals in a season was Scott Niedermayer, who had four in 2001-02.

-By assisting on Anze Kopitar’s goal, Milan Lucic extended his assist streak to five games (2-5=7), which ties a career-high (also: December 23, 2013-January 2, 2014).

-Alec Martinez registered an assist for the third consecutive game (0-3=3), tying his career-long (third time; last: December 22-28, 2015).

-Anze Kopitar has seven points (3-4=7) in the last six games.

-Jake Muzzin led all skaters with 25:36 of ice time. Even strength ice time allotted to defensemen was Martinez-20:36, Muzzin-18:41, Doughty-17:44, Scuderi-17:17, Schenn-13:42 and McNabb-12:47.

-Los Angeles attempted 68 shots (23 on goal, 29 blocked, 16 missed), while New Jersey attempted 51 shots (24 on goal, 11 blocked, 16 missed).

-The Kings won 29-of-52 faceoffs (56%). Among regular performers, Anze Kopitar won 6-of-9, Nick Shore won 9-of-12, Trevor Lewis won 3-of-6, Vincent Lecavalier won 7-of-15 and Jeff Carter won 4-of-9.

Los Angeles is scheduled to practice at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 13 before traveling to Chicago.
