On what he’d be looking for from Kyle Clifford tonight, should he play:
Make sure he’s clear on the system detail and play with some energy.
On Clifford’s limited playing time this season:
You know what, Cliffy provides a role for us, but at the same time, as much as we put on everybody to be a good checker and a solid teammate, we need guys to get scoring chances, too, and finish a little bit, so we’re still looking for that out of our fourth line. Hey, we’ve got 14 guys now, touch wood. Everybody gets the opportunity. It’s not like you’re trying to take opportunities away, we’re trying to give everybody opportunities. Got to look at it also with Kyle, we asked him to go out and play some games so he was ready. Find out if he’s ready. As I said, he was a good team guy. He went and played. He didn’t have to. | BID ON CLIFFORD’S REIGN JERSEY HERE, WITH PROCEEDS BENEFITING CHLA
On competition for playing time:
I don’t think you can call it competition if it’s … only for a handful of minutes. [Reporter: If this holds up, it’s the first time you’ve had everybody healthy since losing Dwight at the beginning of the season.] Hey, Lecavalier coming in created competition because if you were a forward playing under 10 minutes, it’s not really the way we prefer to play it. That may be the way most teams are going now, the top end of your lineup, see what happens. You’re trying to be a playoff team. Everybody’s trying to be a playoff team first and foremost. There are only two or three teams that I would say in the league that have comfort level of whether they’re a playoff team or not. I think you’re going to play the hell out of your top guys.
