January 23 postgame notes

-With the loss, Los Angeles fell to 84-99-33 all-time against the Arizona franchise, a record that includes an away mark of 37-554-17. The Kings are 1-3-0 in the season series, with one game remaining at Gila River Arena on February 2. Los Angeles fell to 2-5-1 in their last eight visits to Glendale and have allowed at least three goals in seven of the eight games.

-With the loss, the Kings fell to 16-9-1 against the Western Conference and 9-6-0 against the Pacific Division. The Coyotes improved to 11-2-2 against the Pacific Division.

-Los Angeles fell to 4-4-0 on the first night of back-to-back sets.

-With his second period goal, Dustin Brown recorded his 457th career point (212-245=457) and moved into an 11th place tie with Mike Murphy on the franchise’s all-time scoring list. The goal ended a nine-game scoreless drought.

-Tyler Toffoli recorded a minus-two rating for the second time this season (also 11/10/15 vs ARI). He is a minus-three against Arizona this season and a plus-28 against the rest of the league. He recorded a minus rating in consecutive games for the first time this season.

-Nick Shore scored his first goal since his game-winning goal in a 4-3 win versus Edmonton on November 14, snapping a 26-game goalless drought.

-The Kings attempted 62 shots (28 on goal, 25 blocked, 9 missed). The Coyotes attempted 46 shots (24 on goal, 10 blocked, 12 missed). Dustin Brown led all skaters with five shots on goal, has nine shots on goal over the last two games and has now recorded 21 shots on goal in four games against Arizona this season. He and Jake Muzzin finished tied with a game-high seven shot attempts.

-Los Angeles won 31-of-58 faceoffs (53%). Kopitar won 11-of-20, Andy Andreoff won 4-of-5, Nick Shore won 5-of-9, Trevor Lewis won 0-of-1, Vincent Lecavalier won 5-of-10 and Jeff Carter won 6-of-13.
