Good morning, Pittsburgh

Good morning, Pittsburgh, and good morning, Insiders.

One of the hardest parts of writing Good Morning posts is finding video clips that relate to the city we’re visiting, and watching them to ensure they’re PG-13 at their most extreme. This is a challenge. LAKI has no space for Bad Words or Gratuitous Gun Usage, and if I’m ever thinking, “Well, should I embed this somewhat risque video clip, or shouldn’t I? I mean, it’s not that bad,” the answer is always “You should definitely not embed that video.” Like, I really wanted to post a Kroll Show Pawnsylvania clip when visiting both Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, but that could never, ever happen. And, on second thought, the editorial process isn’t the difficult part, so disregard the above sentence. The difficult part is not getting caught in a wormhole of YouTube clips when you have to catch the bus to the rink downstairs.

Instead, here is a famous scene from Sudden Death. Man, Iceburgh really didn’t prepare itself well for that roundhouse kick to the face.

The events in this movie never happened.

Pittsburgh is a beautiful city, a great city to visit in the fall. It might be the league’s most underrated city. The views when emerging from the Fort Pitt Tunnel when arriving downtown from the airport are unique and spectacular, and here, at the team hotel, we’re treated to maybe the best views from any hotel room on the entire circuit. Those views are available at the top and bottom of the page. Here’s our landing from yesterday:

It’s another mild day on this trip. We’ll experience a high in the mid-50’s today, and tomorrow the temperature may crack 60 degrees. Relatively speaking, today’s 11:00 a.m. practice is an early one for a non-game day on the road, so actual “hockey stories” should pick up again pretty soon. Enjoy your Thursday, Insiders.
